Jnanjyoti Social Multipurpose Organization, based in Umarga, has launched an ambitious 10,000-tree plantation pledge to strengthen local green cover and combat environmental challenges. GK Foundation Pune is proud to support this community-driven campaign as a collaborating partner, helping mobilize volunteers, saplings and local outreach to ensure long-term success.
The plantation drive focuses on planting native and climate-resilient species across schools, community lands, roadside belts and degraded areas in and around Umarga. Local schools, youth groups, and village representatives will participate in sapling planting, care training and post-plantation monitoring to maximize survival rates.
Why this matters: expanding tree cover reduces air pollution, stabilizes soil, supports groundwater recharge, and provides shade and livelihoods for rural communities. The campaign also includes environmental education sessions for children and volunteers so the effort becomes sustainable, not just symbolic.
GK Foundation Pune’s role: coordination support, volunteer mobilization, sapling sponsorship drives, and setting up simple monitoring plans with local partners to track sapling survival. Together with Jnanjyoti, the Foundation will run follow-up care drives and awareness programs to ensure lasting impact.
How you can help: Sponsor saplings, volunteer on plantation days, spread the word, or support local maintenance efforts. Every small contribution helps—one planted sapling grows into a future resource for the community.
